Thoughts to Ponder

. . . a wise and frugal government which shall restrain men from injuring one another, shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government. ~ Thomas Jefferson, First Inaugral Address, 1801

It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great Nation was founded not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religious, but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For that reason alone, people of other faiths have been afforded freedom of worship here. ~ Patrick Henry

Although church and state stand separate, the polical order cannot be renewed without theological virtues working upon it. . . It is from the church that we receive our fundamental postulates of order, justice, and freedom, applying them to our civil society. ~ Russell Kirk

About Me

My photo
Bill Fisher
For the past 45 years I have devoted my life to politics, law, business, education, and most importantly to serving God. I have run for public office, been a registered lobbyist, worked as a political consultant, practiced law, owned and operated businesses, taught in several universities, preached and taught scripure in the U.S. and in Europe, and served as a licensed lay preacher. So...we will mix politics and religion here - among other things. I hope you find it engligtening and encouraging.

Ordinary Mystic

If you are like me, you often get so busy with "life stuff" and the cares and concerns of that "life stuff" that there seems to be no time to simply stop, to slow down, to reflect. Some days it seems all I do is go from one crisis to another, from one problem in need of a solution to another. I recommend that if you find yourself in that place, then take a break and visit Odinary Mystic at http://gloriafisherministries.blogspot.com/. This is my wife's blog, and, while I am a bit biased, this is a peaceful place to rest for a while. I am the most blessed man I know because at the end of my day, I get to share in the peace that radiates from her.
